We try to make an annual trip to Chicago area to visit Alex’s family. What do you do with a little extra free time over Labor Day weekend when you’ve been to the top sights and have kids? For us it was kid’s museums and eating!

Rockford has an awesome children’s museum! It was great for our 2.5 year old with lots of activities, including a whole imaginative area (play grocery store, doctor’s office, etc.) and fun things we could all try (like the “screw” above and hitting the moving dots with our feet, aka dancing, below)

We also just staid at the house and hung out and turned humans into jungle gyms.

On the Pier there’s another children’s museum. I think this will be a favorite later when Kaya is older but it was more worn down and busier and not as much toddler stuff as the Rockford place. We still had a ton of fun.

After some time at Alex’s parents we went on an RV trip from there. Stay tuned!
