Our first paddle out of the lake we headed straight to the beach.
What a beautiful paddle!
There were people on the beach, runners and cyclists on the path, the skyline of downtown Seattle across the water. A much better view than from our neighborhood lake but also a little more vertical water to deal with too.
At first I wondered if the waves would just push us right over but we moved right along without a problem.
Alki is a long beach with parking along most of the route. We’ve put in at a couple places but don’t have a favorite spot yet. I recommend finding a protected area without too many waves. And if you know a good spot let me know.
Just remember to give your kayak and gear a good rinse after salt water, and allow for extra time to get the sand out.
