Sea Wolves are real!

Our mascot was a Sea Wolf at the University of Alaska Anchorage

“Seawolf pride” with my freshmen roommates…10 years ago!!

(and a Fluke for the one year I spent in Junuea… worst idea ever).

A “fluke” is a whale tale… who knew
All three years I was a Sea Wolf I didn’t know they were real!

This National Geographic article has a very cool description of an encounter with some and talks more about them (summary: they are distinct from salmon-eating wolves and get 90% of their food from the ocean).

Another sea creature I’ll have to look for next time we’re paddling in British Columbia or Southeast Alaska! (I didn’t see any in Desolation Sound).
